Oxford Branch News

From Criag Smith

The Oxford Branch was well represented at this year’s Conference, and we would like to congratulate the Organising Committee for putting on such an informative agenda and interesting Exhibition.

Conference gave the Branch Officers the opportunity to spend some quality time together, discussing how we could make our Branch events that much more interesting. Our new Chairman, Alan Boughtflower, is working very hard to ensure that we have something to offer everyone and that our voice is heard.

We hope to attract more people to the regular meetings but realise that time away from the site is sometimes very difficult to achieve.

We felt we came up with something a little extra for our June meeting, held at the Milton Keynes General Hospital, when we welcomed three very different presenters: Norma McGough from Coeliac UK, the MAGNET Group from Milton Keynes General Hospital and Caroline Lecko, Patient Safety Lead (Nutrition and Pressure Ulcers) at the National Patient Safety Agency, and a good friend of the HCA.

The lunch was kindly sponsored by Tillery Valley.

Finally, in the Oxford Branch column in the last edition of Hospital Caterer (April 2010), the caption to the photo of Ian Robinson and Jeremy Croxford at Hotelympia incorrectly stated that Ian was Branch Chairman. Ian, although still a Member, stood down from this position late last year and our current Chair is Alan Boughtflower. Apologies to those concerned!
