From Allan Gimson
Our March meeting was held at Goole Hospital, and we had a very interesting presentation from John Varey, from Tiffin Sandwiches Ltd, based in Bradford. Tiffin is on the new Supply Chain sandwich contract.
The samples supplied by John were consumed very quickly and all agreed the quality was excellent. Many thanks to John and the team at Tiffin.
The Treasurer’s report was presented and Membership remains high, with 23 Members and 5 Patrons. And I’m pleased to report that Branch funds are in a very strong position.
We moved on to planning our activities for the summer and Christmas socials. Options proposed included a trip to the horse racing at either Doncaster or Market Rasen, and a Christmas meal. Ideas will be firmed up and announced shortly.
We also discussed cost saving measures which some of our Members are implementing, and information was shared around the table.
In April, the Branch had its highest ever turn-out at Conference, and all who attended agreed that it was very good. The organisation was very smooth, and the range and quality of Speakers meant that everyone had new ideas to take back to their Trusts.
We’d like to thank the Conference Committee from the North West Branch who worked so hard to make it happen.
Undoubtedly, the highlight for the Trent Branch was our Branch Secretary, David Elsom, winning the Caterer of the Year Award. Our heartiest congratulations to David.
Our May meeting was held at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
