The West of Scotland Branch was well represented at Conference in Blackpool.
‘Raising the Bar’ allowed us as a group to consider the challenges, opportunities and obstacles associated with the current financial climate we find ourselves in.
All the Speakers struck a chord with our Members and, on the social side, the President’s Dinner was fantastic. The After Dinner Speaker, Dr Kevin Jones, was hilarious and will make us look at Bury General Hospital - where he is Consultant Chest Physician - in a different light!
We were delighted that Lesley Morris, Catering Manager at Ayr Hospital, was a finalist for the HCA Caterer of the Year Award.
The Branch held an end-of-Day One debrief in the Hilton Blackpool’s residents’ lounge at midnight. No-one took minutes, but Archie Reid’s attempt to escort Michael McCall back to his hotel took many minutes - and nearly every drink off the table.
The North West Branch Dinner was great fun - the circus theme, along with the Fish and ‘Posh’ Chip dinner, was most innovative.
We’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to the North West Branch for their hard work and selfless effort in organising a very successful Conference this year, and to the numerous Sponsors and corporate partners without whom these events could not happen.
This was the last Conference for Catherine Melville, from NHS Highlands, prior to her retirement. She has been a Member of our Branch for many years and we would all like to wish her a long and happy retirement.
