From Nick Kay
The well attended May meeting was held at the Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton, hosted by Katie Kearney, Catering Manager. We started with a presentation by Tim Bender, National Warewash Product Manager for Hobart UK, on the merits of thermodisinfection in dishwashing.
Standard agenda discussions were followed by a product tasting session - a feature of most of our meetings - which on this occasion was sausages. The idea is to ascertain best value in taste, quality, range and cost on a scale of one to ten. It has been felt for some time that a regional collective view by catering managers on certain products can help to encourage local suppliers to keep their costs and products consistent, respond to market demands and open up their own potential markets.
The June meeting was held at Andover War Memorial Hospital with a presentation by David Jones of PKL on contingency planning.
