Carotino launches its healthy cooking oil range to the UK catering market

A unique, vitamin-rich, multi-purpose range of cooking oils, which until recently was only available to retail customers via supermarkets, is now available to the UK catering industry for the first time.

Carotino & Carofry offer the health benefits and advantages of premium oils for the same cost-effective price as general purpose cooking oils.

Cholesterol-free Carotino and Carofry red palm-based oils offer impressive health credentials, making them ideal for use in hospitals and other catering environments where health targets are in place, but cost is a key factor.

Carotino liquid oil is made from a blend of red palm fruit and canola oil and is rich in natural anti-oxidant alpha and beta carotenes (Pro-Vitamin A), which is unique for cooking oil.

Carofry is a semi-solid pure palm oil created especially for deep fat frying and provides an extended fry life and a range of health benefits not usually associated with solid oil as well as offering many other advantages for catering.

In addition to being rich in Pro-Vitamin A and other essential nutrients including Vitamin E and Omega 3 and 6, both oils are low in saturated fats and contain virtually no harmful ‘trans fats’.

Carotino liquid oil is a healthy alternative to other vegetable oils and even olive oil and is ideal for frying, baking, roasting and making salad dressings. It has a neutral flavour which does not taint the food, providing a healthier option for creating both sweet and savoury dishes without the strong flavour associated with olive oil.

As well as being suitable for frying and roasting, Carotino oil can be used to make bread, pastries, cakes, biscuits, muffins, sauces and soups. It can also be used to create a range of classic dishes like cottage pie and Yorkshire pudding, as well as curries and stir-fries.

Carotino oil has a high smoke point and the nutrients remain intact even when cooking at normal temperatures. Its naturally rich consistency means you can use around a third less than usual, lowering both the fat and calorie content of food cooked with Carotino, compared with other oils.

All Carotino and Carofry products have a rich golden colour derived from the natural carotene content of the oils, which adds a subtle but appetising hint of colour to food without the need for artificial additives.

Both oils are suitable for all kinds of diets, including vegetarian & vegan, coeliac (gluten free), Halal and Kosher and come from environmentally sustainable plantations.

Carotino and Carofry are available in a range of catering size packs and the company offers a bespoke service to provide clients with the quantities they want at delivery times to suit them.
