Wales Branch News

From Claire Lewis

The Wales Branch were the hosts for this year’s Leadership & Development Forum, ‘Evolution to Resolution,’ which offered a variety of seminar sessions over the two days. Attendance from suppliers and delegates completely exceeded our expectations.

Lord Hunt opened the Forum as HCA President, followed by a keynote speech from Andrew Goodhall CEO NHS Wales. Other discussions and debates included waste reduction, the procurement strategy over our four nations, governance and improving the image of hospital food. There were also inspirational talks from Nigel Owens, international rugby referee, and ‘Big’ Phil Campion, ex SAS.

A new concept at this year’s Forum was Meet the Buyer, a speed dating-type of session where suppliers had the opportunity to have a 10 minute chat with the buyer before the whistle blew and they moved onto the next. This proved popular and productive for both parties. Both days were topped off with fabulous evenings of good food and amazing entertainment.

At the closing ceremony Peter Jones handed over the HCA flag to the Merseyside and North Wales Branch, who are hosting the 2020 Forum. We wish them every success in their venture.

At our May Branch meeting at Singleton Hospital, we introduced four new members and presented them with their certificates.
