Bidfood Scotland has announced the appointment of Steph Johnstone to the newly created role of regional sourcing manager, marking a major milestone in its commitment to championing Scottish produce.

Johnstone will be responsible for strengthening local supplier relationships and expanding the Scottish range offered to customers across the UK. Bidfood says she has a proven track record of driving growth, innovation, and sustainable supply chain partnerships.

Speaking about her appointment, Johnstone said: “I’m thrilled to step into this new role to grow our Scottish range at Bidfood, supporting local producers and building strong partnerships. I’m excited to help them flourish in Scotland, as well as throughout the rest of the UK, utilising Bidfood’s extensive distribution network.

“Scotland is home to some exceptional produce, where provenance and quality are key, and I’m looking forward to developing our supplier relationships in order to further extend our inspiring and comprehensive product range to our customers.”

Previously she worked for Restoration Yard, a store, restaurant and wellbeing lab, where she was retail manager. Johnstone also spent several years at The Cress Company as a buyer before being promoted to head of buying and purchasing.

Jon Mack, business unit director for Bidfood Scotland, added: “This year marks 30 years since we began supporting Scottish producers, starting with just ten Scottish product lines (SKUs) in 1995 building up to over 500 today.

“Her appointment represents a significant step forward in our ambitions to champion Scottish produce. With her expertise and passion, we’re better equipped to strengthen our support for Scottish product, grow its presence and provide to more customers.”
